APP REVIEW: Bant

University Health Network

RATING: 4

SYNOPSIS
This app is designed to easily capture blood glucose readings and supply trend data for up to 90 days.

Pros:

  • Unique drag and drop design eliminates the need to type in numbers and select times.
  • Trends data easily identifies successes and challenges at different times of the day.
  • Twitter integration enables the user to share diabetes management experience with a larger community and possibly learn from others.

Cons:

  • Twitter integration brings up questions about privacy. While Twitter can be a source of current news and events, it’s not always the most credible source of information. This method of sharing may expose the user to misinformation or unsolicited advice from others in the online forum.

BOTTOM LINE
For what it does, the Bant app allows users to track their blood sugar levels with ease and without distraction. Twitter integration can be both a blessing and a curse depending on how it's used. Most people probably are not interested in sharing such personal data as blood glucose levels with the world.
