What the research says

The short version

Meta-analyses of 19 to 26 trials found better skin hydration and elasticity after hydrolyzed collagen. A 2025 meta-analysis found no effect in trials not funded by supplement companies or in high quality trials.

Benefit is uncertain because results differ by funding source and study quality, and no government safety sheet was found.

About "most pills": 2025 meta-analysis of 10 trials: most commonly given dose was 4 g a day (median 3.5 g, range 1 to 10 g a day).
