Meet “The Feed” at FNCE 2015

The start of October signals the true beginning of all things fall: pumpkin spice, turning leaves, football and FNCE®.

I have not attended the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo™ — the annual meeting of the Healthy Nutrition Academy — in several years. But I’m going to Nashville this year, and I am so excited to reunite with so many in my profession.

My primary reason for attending is to communicate the latest in nutrition informatics to a larger group of dietitians. There are two groups at the Academy who deal with informatics: the Nutrition Informatics Committee (NIC) and the Interoperability and Standards Committee (ISC).

NIC members are making sure that the dietetics profession knows and understands the informatics world we live in. Informatics is not coming soon — it is already here! Meanwhile, ISC ensures that standards for Electronic Health Records keep nutrition in mind.

Look for members of NIC and ISC at the “Genius Zone” just outside the Expo floor. Stop by and meet the incredible people representing nutrition and dietetics in the world of informatics. We’d love to talk with you about anything related to informatics: EHR, nutrient analysis programs, automation for inventory or food forecasting, nutrition apps or any other way you use automation as part of your nutrition practice. We’ll also be able to let you know which FNCE® sessions are informatics oriented.

See you there!
